Volleyball Fever

1. The Jose Cuervo Pro Beach Volleyball Series
LA – If you were captivated by the unbeatable USA women’s volleyball team of Kerri Walsh Jennings and Misty May-Treanor at the Summer Olympics, you’ll definitely want to check out the Manhattan Beach Open, a.k.a. The Jose Cuervo Pro Beach Volleyball Series on August 24th – 26th.
1. Often referred to as ”The Wimbledon of Beach Volleyball,” the Manhattan Beach Open has been a CA staple for over 50 years. The multi-stop tournament started this year in May in Ft. Lauderdale and has made stops across the country in Belmar, NJ, Chicago, IL, Hermosa Beach, CA, Milwaukee, WI, Manhattan Beach, CA and will finish up at the National Championships in Huntington Beach, CA this September. And guess what? IT’S FREE!

2. The Shellback Tavern
2. After a day of cajoling, you’ll be ready for a nice brew. One of the coldest and coolest beers you’ll find is just up the pier at The Shellback Tavern, a surfer’s Surf Bar and one of the last of its kind along the CA Coast.

3. Mangiamo Restaurant
3. Just a few feet from the Shellback is Mangiamo, a cozy, delicious Italian neighborhood restaurant, but they’ve got a “no flip-flops or beach attire” dress code, so if you’d rather grab a low-key beach bite, check out MamaD’s for a more casual, but out of this world Italian dinner!
Bottom line, it’s summer time! Water + sand + sport + good food and drink = fun. And lots of it!
