Sideways… On Stage

Sideways… the Play
LA – If you were a fan of the movie Sideways, a film that garnered some 350 awards, you may be interested in knowing that Sideways the play has made its theatrical debut at the Ruskin Group Theatre in Santa Monica. But this version of the story is closer to Sideways the novel and was adapted by its phenomenally talented author, Rex Pickett (we love the book almost more than the movie!).
Sideways is the story of two friends – Miles and Jack – who go on a journey across the Santa Ynez wine country before Jack gets married. Along the way, numerous bottles of wine are consumed and Miles and Jack embark on an emotional journey as they explore their friendship and try to make sense of their ambiguous futures.
Sideways has been credited with driving Pinot Noir sales up 17%, so the producers have added a nice touch: a pinot tasting before the curtain and during intermission. If you’re looking for a rich, full-bodied evening, be sure to catch the show during its limited run, as it closes October 28 and sells out every weekend (they keep extending!). Meanwhile, we’re crossing our fingers the show makes its way to New York! Tickets: 310.397.3244 ($20-$25)
