NY – There is no better way to start a beautiful summer evening than at the magical French hot-spot Le Magnifique. Sit outside under covered awnings on a lovely tree-lined street with the Gossip Girl crowd or snuggle inside at the dimly lit, romantic and intimate bar that features visually breathtaking French movies projected onto the wall with great background music (courtesy of a DJ on weekends). For a more formal dinner, join the regulars upstairs for a special dining experience with a versatile, accessible and delicious bistro menu. Either way, you’ll feel comfortable enough to linger all night.
However, just in case you do care to venture elsewhere, mosey next door (literally) to Bar & Books for a digestive and a smoke (you heard us). We aren’t smokers ourselves, but every now and then don’t mind being in the presence of a cigar and B&B is one of the very few places in NYC that still allows and encourages smoking. Bring your own cigarettes, cigars or buy one from the cigar menu and settle into the beautiful, dark library filled with books (hence the name), and plenty of romantic seating with french windows that open onto the street and a fireplace that’s lit most of the year. Proper attired is required (per the large sign at the front door) at this popular after-dinner spot, and the clientele is quite stylish!
