NY – Being a New Yorker to the fullest, I know how easy it can be to get wrapped up in the fast-paced hustle of this glorious city. Many of us love to jump from meeting to meeting all day long and fill our evenings with endless event-hopping because there is just so much fun to be had on this incredible island. With that said, my number one personal challenge is to live a life of balance, where I allow myself to relax, work and play equally. Knowing that you probably have the work and play parts of life pretty handled, I wanted to remind you how much fun taking a day for YOU can be and invite you to relax enough to recharge and feel the self-love.
1) The name of my first pick says it all, Soho Sanctuary. This spa is founded by a woman, for women and is filled with some of the most lovely and healing aestheticians, therapists and fitness instructors that I’ve ever come across. The vision for Soho Sanctuary emerged from founder Helen Benham’s own longing for a serene place to go in Manhattan to escape the pressures of work, family, and the city’s dizzying pace of life. The Sanctuary is a place where women can strengthen and tone their bodies as well as feel nurtured by healing, beautifying and luxurious treatments — it’s an antidote to the commercial, impersonal environments of so many other spas. I can tell you first hand, you’ll never want to leave once you’re there.
2) This might not make sense to everyone, but I always feel better after a good hair day! Who doesn’t love walking the streets of New York and window shopping, feeling beautiful with your hair blowing in the wind? OK most of that happens in my mind, but still, it feels awesome to get your hair done and it’s always on my list of things to indulge in on a day off. I’ve been going to Dop Dop salon for the past 11 years and will never go anywhere else. This incredibly chic and hip spot is the place to go for a look that will have you feeling obsessed with yourself. All the stylists are great, but my one and only is Mirian Lima who transformed my hair and has me feeling like I need to book a commercial every time I have an appointment with her!
3) After all this pampering, I tend to get a bit hungry and the best place to satisfy my taste buds in Soho is Once Upon A Tart. Not only is the space completely adorable, they have a wide variety of treats both savory and sweet. Not to mention, their Ginger Iced Tea is so refreshing it will become your new favorite drink! Grab a good book and you can sit there people watching and sipping in delight for hours.
