NY – Dinner and an Upper West Side Movie anyone? We love you Netflix, but there are some films that just need to be seen on the big screen. If your excuse for not going out is that you’d rather be on the couch, then we’ve got the answer for you. Here’s one of our favorite, low key date nights and the best part, you can enjoy it in any order:
1) If you have not-so-fond memories of the AMC 84th Street 6 and haven’t heard, it’s been completely renovated and now, even the weakest movies are selling out in large part due to the reserved, fully reclining motorized love seats–perfect for two. This is appointment viewing at its finest, whether you’re looking for a lazy place to kick back or a cozy spot to cuddle up on a date night with a bucket of popcorn and a self-serve soda (there are tons of soda combos!). Pair it all with a Moviepass for unlimited movies!
2) Originally created at Nice Matin, the Five Napkin burger was always the most popular dish on the menu, so what better way to celebrate the classic burger than to create its own stage with a spin-off restaurant – Five Napkin Burger. We may be going out on a limb by declaring the Five Napkin burger New York’s best, but we dare you to talk us out of that. Now, with five restaurant locations in the US, the Five Napkin Burger is really out in the world and we can’t help but think the gluten free bun has something to do with it.
3. If going to the movies inspires you to read the book or if you simply miss just perusing real books, there are still a few brick and mortar bookstores out there to browse through. Get lost in the 2.5 floors of books in the last of the huge mega bookstores in NYC at Barnes and Noble on 82nd and Broadway. Lots of nooks and crannies to make out in and this specific location hosts some of the world’s most reknowned authors, artists and actors in interesting panel discussions and readings — get more info here.
