Books ‘n Booze in Brooklyn

Elizabeth Flock, New York Times Bestselling Author

NY – Doldrums of winter got you down?  Problem solved.  Get yourself some books ‘n booze in Brooklyn.

    You heard me.  Brooklyn.

Now hold on, don’t go all judgmental on me.  Brooklyn’s easier to get to than you think and it’s way cool.

In fact I’ll prove it to you.  Brooklyn’s got Seersucker, a super-fun spot that makes me believe the South really IS gonna do it again.  Meet the bartender and toast the borough that brought you Woody Allen, Mos Def, Neil Diamond, Carole King and Larry King. It’s about a seven-minute walk over to Bookcourt from Seersucker so do a little window shopping along the way. Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill (Bookcourt straddles both neighborhoods, more or less) are home to some of the cutest stores – I’m looking at you Cloak and Dagger and Dry Goods.

    Bookcourt Books

Bookcourt is a three decade old independent bookstore that’s open 365 days a year and is host to authors like Martin Amis, Kurt Anderson, the girls behind The Nanny Diaries.  And oh yeah, me, I’ve had a book signing there too.

    Nunu Chocolates

The best way to follow up some hardcore book shopping is with chocolate. Some people chose Coronas to chase their tequila shots, in my world I do book shots followed-up with chocolate chasers. And I am dying to try Nunu Chocolates so that’s where I’ll be heading after the Bookcourt talk. Because you’ve gotta love a place that urges you to get your chocolate on.

Oh, I’ll be getting my chocolate on alright, Nunu. Right after the books and booze.
